tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7686412482666518022.post3211107807786125621..comments2023-09-30T10:33:45.148-04:00Comments on falling deer: The art of losing isn't hard to masterSusanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17174392061703191449noreply@blogger.comBlogger1125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7686412482666518022.post-26006488470309176842008-11-28T01:43:00.000-05:002008-11-28T01:43:00.000-05:00i used to live in virginia. when i moved to new yo...i used to live in virginia. when i moved to new york, i didn't get a new drivers license because i didn't want to have to register my car here. i was a student in addition to working full time, so i figured i could get away with it. this spring, i lost the virginia license. i looked EVERYWHERE, i thought. i called verb cafe where I'd had coffee earlier that day thinking that maybe it fell out of my pocket. i checked my jackets and my bags and my pants. finally, i gave up and decided to make a trip to the dmv. first they had my name linked up with someone else's record so i had to return six weeks later after they fixed it. when i came back, we discovered that dc had put a hold on my record and had forbidden me to get a new license. i had actually been driving for a good 4 years at least on a suspended record. it's a long story why, but the point is that i was able to resolve the matter pretty quickly and avoid getting my ass thrown in jail. when i moved out of my apartment in june, i found my virginia license under the couch in my bedroom. moral of the story is that sometimes you lose things in order to retain your freedom.
